The Birth Story of Eliza Mae | Transitions Birth Center | Jacksonville Birth Photographer
It was such an honor to be present for the second birth of this precious family, almost 2 years after I documented their first birth story. Amelia and Andrew welcomed a sweet baby girl in Jacksonville’s newest birth center, Transitions. Eliza Mae was the very first baby to be born at the birth center and it was so beautiful!
With prodromal contractions preceding this day, Amelia’s body and baby were quite ready when the consistent contractions kicked in. I joined doula, Kelly Googe, along with Amelia’s parents, at their home, before we made our way to the birth center. Their sweet pup, Pedley, was involved in all the excitement and seemed very concerned for Amelia. Kelly helped work with Amelia to encourage productive contractions and it wasn’t long before it was time to head out.
We arrived at the birth center and got settled in as Amelia’s contractions were strengthening. She had such admirable fortitude through it all. Kelly and Andrew were amazing in supporting Amelia through the intensity, and when she was ready, with just a few pushes and the assistance of Midwife Christa, Eliza Mae emerged from the water of the birth tub to rest on her mama’s chest. The moments after were filled with complete joy!
